In the first chapter Greg tells the story and his discouragement as he realizes that "things are only going to get harder" as his son gets older.
I honestly hadn't thought about that.
Well, I had, but not in those terms.
It will get harder to care for Andrew because
he's going to get bigger
and
I'm going to get older.
That is a little very discouraging!
But, I have also spent the last several years telling young parents that it's going to get easier.
So, I guess it does get easier for a little while, because we as parents settle into a routine. We get to know our kiddos, we begin to get used to the medical appointments, and we begin to learn how the system works.
So in a way it does get easier, with the realization that it's also going to get harder.
Wow! Somehow that doesn't make me feel any better.
I realized a long time ago that I can't do it by myself. What's contradictory to that is that I try, and it's usually when I try to do it by myself that I fall into the pit of anxiety and hopelessness.
It's important for me to "Let go, and let God"
"but those who hope in the Lord
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint."
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint."
Isaiah 40:30
